Dynasty enthusiasts fell in love with Cooper Kupp at the 2017 Senior Bowl after a stellar career at Eastern Washington University.  In four collegiate seasons, Kupp caught 428 passes for 6,464 yards and 73 touchdowns, which made him one of the most prolific pass catchers in collegiate history.  Even with this production, little did we know that this third round draft selection from the NCAA BIg Sky Conference would emerge to be the wide receiver we see today.  He’s a perfect blend of reliability and precise route running for the Rams offense.  Kupp has emerged as Jared Goff’s favorite target and an absolute yards after catch machine.  At first glance, his average depth of target seems surprisingly low at 7.4 yards but it’s what he does with the ball in his hands that makes him special.  He leads the NFL with 237 yards after contact and is near the top of all wide receivers in every statistical category.

41 Receptions (2nd)

63 Targets (1st)

505 Yards (4th)

28% Target share (2nd)

4 Touchdowns (4th)

237 Yards after contact (1st)

Injuries have plagued the early part of his career, but Kupp seems fully healed from the torn ACL in 2018.  If you combine his last 16 games played from the end of 2017, pre injury 2018 and the start to this season, it would look like this:

135 Targets - 100 catches - 1,344 yards - 13 touchdowns

Is there a more underrated wide receiver in dynasty fantasy football?  Week in and week out he is producing as a top tier wide receiver, with not only a high ceiling but also a high floor.  Kupp has yet to receive less than nine targets in a game and has been targeted fifteen or more times each of the past two games.  Never the fastest guy on the field, nor the most gifted physically, Kupp makes plays and always finds ways to get open.  Kupp is producing as a WR1 but not being valued as such against flashier players, who are not producing anywhere near as well.  If he maintains this scorching pace, Kupp would be on pace for 131 catches, 1,616 yards, and 13 touchdowns.  He may not have the high pedigree like other WR1s but what he has is opportunity in a potent offense, with an above average skill set.  Sean McVay has found a way to utilize his skill set, which has catapulted him into not only the WR1 for the Rams but also a legitimate WR1 in the NFL.  Kupp, an obvious third year breakout candidate is here to stay.  His value may have dipped after his 2018 injury but he seems more impressive and explosive than he was before the injury.  According to Dynasty League Football September ADP, he is currently being drafted 49th overall, which is the WR22 off draft boards.  That number is sure to change but the time to buy Cooper Kupp is right now!  I am bullishly valuing him as a top ten dynasty wide receiver.  This time next year his value will be much higher and he will lead you to fantasy championships this year.
