Devy Deep Dive
Week 5 Game Films
In this article series, I will provide weekly game films and analysis of Devy players.
Overall and positional rankings can be seen in the rankings tab Here.
Isaiah Hodgins, WR Oregon State
6'-4" 209 lbs - 2020 Prospect (JR)
Dominator Rating: 53.8%
Through Week 5, Isaiah Hodgins is leading the PAC-12 in receiving with 509 yards and 127 yards per game. A savvy route runner with great hands, the sideline catch on the below video demonstrates his field awareness with the toe tap and high point body control and wide catch radius. His touchdown shows his soft hands and concentration. Isaiah is not a household name in devy circles but if he continues to dominate each week he can be a mid round NFL draft selection next spring.

Bo Nix, QB Auburn
6'-2" 207 lbs - 2022 Prospect (FR)
Game Completion Rate: 76%
5-star freshman Bo Nix is my #1 rated 2022 devy quarterback prospect. He is extremely talented and exhibits solid arm strength, accuracy, and a nice touch on the deep ball. What sets him apart is his ability to maneuver inside the pocket, keeping his eyes downfield and the ability to scramble when he sees the opportunity. As the film shows below, Nix can make all the throws at the next level. His completion percentage and confidence are improving each week and I expect him to rise in devy draft boards throughout the season.

Antonio Golden-Gandy, WR Liberty
6'-4" 220 lbs - 2020 Prospect (SR)
Dominator Rating: 52.7%
Golden-Gandy is a physical receiver who plays through contact and uses his body control and hands very well when battling defensive backs. His height advantage naturally allows him to excel in high point contested catch situations. Watching the game film below, take notice of his field awareness and adjustments as he routinely gets open to help his quarterback when the pocket collapses. Golden-Gandy won’t burn defensive backs with speed but has the size and athleticism to be a monster in the red zone at the next level.

David Bell, WR Perdue
6'-3" 210 lbs - 2022 Prospect (FR)
Dominator Rating: 13.7%
David Bell is a freshman 4-star wide receiver ranked 19th overall by 24/7 Sports. He caught my eye in Week 1 while I was watching Rondale Moore film. When Moore went down with an injury this week, I was interested to see if Bell could step up and contribute to the offense. Below you will see the majority of his catches throughout the game. He displayed a wide route tree, solid hands, and toughness as he fought for every yard. Still in the shadow of Moore, I believe Bell is a deep devy player worth keeping an eye as he continues to develop.
When Rondale Moore went down I was excited to see if #devy Freshman WR David Bell could step up. I'd say he capitalized on his opportunity. Kyle Pitts, TE Florida
6'-6" 239 lbs - 2021 Prospect (SO)
2109 Catch Rate: 89%
Kyle Pitts has really emerged this year. As a freshman he had only 3 catches for 73 yards and 1 touchdown. Through Week 5 this season, he’s caught 17 balls for 189 yards and 3 TD. Pitts is uber athletic and has great body control for his size. All three of his catches required him to extend his body or make in air adjustments to grab the pass. The first touchdown displays his outstanding footwork and the ability to quickly split two defenders off the line of scrimmage. The man obviously has hands with an 89% catch rate. Pitts needs to be on your 2021 devy tight end prospect class radar.
