Wide Receiver, Georgia
5 Star Prospect
If you watch a lot of SEC football, you know the best receivers in the conference are Jerry Juedy, Henry Ruggs, Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson. However, don’t be surprised if this time next year Georgia's 5-star wide receiver George Pickens makes an appearance on the list. As a true freshman, Pickens led the Bulldogs in every receiving category with 37 receptions, 553 yards, and 7 touchdowns as Jake Fromm’s most reliable target.
Pickens is a big, confident, strong athlete who dominated defensive backs all season and wins with physicality, play strength, and length to create space and opportunities. He won’t beat you with speed but he will with good route running, excellent body control and vice-grip hands. He made some amazing catches throughout the year, his best being against LSU in the SEC Championship game where he displayed all his elite skills in one catch. He is a rising star and will continue to be the focal point of Georgia's passing game for the next couple of seasons.
You may be familiar with Pickens from his dominating performance against Baylor in the Sugar Bowl, but if you’re not, don’t worry, I’ve got you covered. Below is a scouting report video of his freshman season showing you why he was one of the most impressive freshman wide receivers in the nation this year. After watching his film, I came away determined to target in him in every devy draft this spring. You may come to the same conclusion.
